JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operational activities of the cell culture, assay, and engineering laboratories while implementing operational improvements to increase quality performance and operational efficiency.

  • Track costs and purchases for multiple projects.

  • Maintain laboratory stocks and inventory. Order and re-order supplies as needed.

  • Provide direct supervision of all laboratory staff and provide mentorship to new and incoming team members.

  • Train new staff in areas related to laboratory safety and conduct, ensure required training is completed, and maintain laboratory training records.

  • Write and maintain laboratory standard SOPs as needed.

  • Maintain all laboratory equipment and supplies. Update instrument maintenance records and maintain those records.

  • Coordinate shipping, tracking, and receiving of customer cell lines.

  • Track and maintain all critical reagents.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or other closely related STEM field

  • Proven ability to problem-solve independently.

  • 2 - 5 years wet lab experience in a cell culture or other biology related laboratory

  • Effective at managing time and workload with minimal supervision

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel/Sheets) and word processing (Word/Docs)

  • Well-organized and detail-oriented

  • Operate with a team-first mentality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with cryostorage and inventory management

  • Familiarity with aseptic technique and operations in a BSL-2 laboratory

  • Experience managing chemical inventories

  • Experience writing SOPs, training protocols, and other standardized laboratory literature

  • Experience moving a lab into a new facility or building out a lab from scratch 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Full-time, hourly (40 hours per week)

  • The job responsibilities of this position are predominantly performed on-site.

  • Must be able to work in a laboratory environment while wearing PPE consistent with the requirements of BSL-2

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to carry and/or lift up to 40 pounds while handling equipment and/or materials (strong dexterity skills are needed).

  • Hours can be flexible as long as the performance deadlines are met.

COMPENSATION

75-90k – depending on experience

Curi Bio is seeking individuals who have a passion for developing leading-edge technologies in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.

Our software team needs a Senior Software Engineer to lead efforts in developing cloud infrastructure and desktop applications to allow our customers to control our scientific instruments and analyze the data they collect as they use our cutting-edge technology to probe the frontiers of biology and develop life saving new medicines.

As a key member of a small team, you will get to lead efforts in greenfield projects and help define the standards that our software and team will adhere to.

Responsibilities

  • Write clean and efficient code based on product specifications and participate in the entire development life cycle, from concept to release

  • Gathering requirements for software projects with internal stakeholders

  • Design and develop new features for our desktop and cloud based applications

  • Follow industry standards for software development best practices, documentation, and CI/CD to maintain the high quality of our codebase

  • Establish timelines and project scopes to meet deadlines and milestones laid out by management

  • Enhance existing application code with new features and strike a balance when making technical decisions (build vs refactor vs simplify)

  • Mentor junior engineers on code quality and other industry best practices

Skills / Abilities

  • Familiar with agile methodologies

  • Eager to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, creative environment

  • Exceptional ability, and inclination, to undertake new avenues of thinking in areas beyond your past experience in order to take initiative and solve problems

  • Strong track record in delivering delivering high quality software on time

  • Willingness to provide and accept constructive feedback on work during pull requests, paired programming sessions and retrospectives

  • Experience with the following:

Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ experience in a full-time software engineering position

  • 2+ years experience developing a SaaS product

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

  • Providing samples of code you’ve written (e.g. GitHub links) in your application is strongly encouraged

  • Fluent in English

  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Location

The company is located in Seattle, WA. However, a fully remote role is possible for the right candidate, provided you are within +3 hours of the Pacific Time Zone.

Compensations / Benefits

  • $120,000 - $150,000 – dependent on experience
