[Live Webinar] From Muscle To Neuromuscular: Building 3D Human Functional NMJs with Mantarray

In this free live webinar, Curi Bio's Dr. Jacob W Fleming (Research Scientist) and Dr. Christos Michas (Product Manager) will present:

  • An overview of a functional human iPSC-based model of the Neuromuscular Junction (NMJ).

  • Stable Neuromuscular Junction function observed across >3 week time frame.

  • Validated synaptic function and specificity through Botulinum Toxin testing.

When

Wednesday, January 17, 2024

  • 7:00-7:45am PST (10:00am EST / 4:00pm CET)

  • 4:00-4:45pm PST (7:00pm EST / 9:00am JST)

Note: We are offering this live webinar at two times. Both presentations will be the same, and there will be a live Q & A session at the end of each webinar for those who attend during these time frames.

Summary

The Neuromuscular junction (NMJ) plays a central role in human health and disease, with neurotoxins that manipulate its function widely used in medical applications. Effective preclinical testing necessitates models that mimic in vivo biology, perform reliably across laboratories, and are easy to assemble. However, no such models of the NMJ exist.

In this webinar, Curi Bio presents a novel 3D functional in vitro model of the NMJ, derived from human iPSCs, consisting of motor neuron spheroids and 3D engineered skeletal muscle tissues. The potential of this system as a disease modeling tool or neurotoxin potency assay is validated by demonstrating NMJ specificity using Botulinum toxin (Botox) blockade of neuron-mediated muscle contractions.

Join this webinar to gain insight into this new 3D functional in vitro model of the neuromuscular junction. The presentation will be followed by an open Q&A session.
